IN PRINT: Yeh Shih-Chiang

Hanart TZ Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “IN PRINT: Yeh Shih-Chiang”, an exhibition of selected works of Yeh Shih-Chiang, and book launch with editor Anne Renahan, taking place on 20 May 2023, Saturday, 12noon to 6pm.

In April 2023 the world-renowned art-book publishing house RIZZOLI proudly released “Constellations: Yeh Shih-Chiang / Yeh Wei-Li”. This remarkable volume is the first illustrated book in English focused on the extraordinary life and work of Yeh Shih-Chiang, one of Taiwan’s most reclusive and enigmatic artists. “Constellations” is also the first major art book that RIZZOLI has published on a Taiwanese artist, making it a particularly significant contribution to the field.

The Chinese edition of “Constellations” was first published half year earlier in Taiwan. “Constellations” reflects a deep affinity between two artists who never met, but whose journeys intersect. Yeh Wei-Li has been reimagining and re-creating the life and living spaces of Yeh Shih-Chiang since 2015—archiving and restoring his printed matter, artworks, and inanimate objects; curating and designing exhibition and architectural structures; and re-creating the actual physical spaces in which he worked.

In parallel with the exhibition opening on 20 May 2023, the “LUMBUNG FILM IN HONG KONG”, curated by LIU Di, will also play their third screening in Hanart TZ Gallery. “lumbung film” is a repository of films and video works by lumbung members and artists. The films were screened in Kassel during the 100 days of documenta fifteen complementing and contextualising the artists’ other exhibited works. Since lumbung continues in the aftermath of documenta fifteen, lumbung film is also programmed and screened in the locations of lumbung artists. It is one way for the ecosystems of lumbung artists to see each other’s work and to continue connecting inter-locally immediately after the exhibition in Kassel.
