Swire Properties White Christmas Street Fair

EVENT DESCRIPTION

After a two-year break, Swire Properties’ annual and beloved large-scale community event, the White Christmas Street Fair, returns and will run from 2 to 5 December 2021. The theme this year is “Santa’s Whimsical Factory”, a nod to Swire’s rich history in the greater Quarry Bay area.

Designed and run by students from the Swire Properties Placemaking Academy (SPPA), this year’s Street Fair is inspired by the Taikoo Sugar Refinery and will transform Tong Chong Street, Taikoo Place into a vast ‘workshop’ filled with fantastical gadgets, gizmos, a special vehicle, delightful food and drinks, workshops, and of course, presents.

Featuring three eye-catching attractions and 30 Christmas-themed booths, along with a host of live performances and handicraft workshops, this year’s Street Fair will again be a perfect spot for young and old, as well as family and friends, to celebrate the holiday season.

A series of takeaway Christmas-themed food and drinks will also be on offer, prepared by EAST Hong Kong, enoteca and selected Tong Chong Street Market vendors.

The Company’s annual signature community celebration was designed and is being run by a group of select Hong Kong youth – who’re part of the Swire Properties Placemaking Academy. These seven local university students are set to bring yet another unique festive experience to HK residents, and fill the greater community with loads of festive joy!

All funds raised will be donated to Operation Santa Claus.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Launched in 2019, the Swire Properties Placemaking Academy (SPPA) is part of Swire Properties’ ongoing commitment to nurturing Hong Kong’s youths. Each year, participants are shortlisted through an open competition for all Hong Kong university students, who take part in a six-month apprenticeship to ideate and execute the White Christmas Street Fair in December – the Company’s annual celebration for the community.

During the six-month apprenticeship, SPPA transfers skills and knowledge to participants on Swire Properties’ long-term goals in the areas of Placemaking, Innovation and Sustainable Development through ideation, mentoring and on-the-job training given by Swire Properties’ top management and the SPPA’s star lecturers. To retain talents, the Company aims to offer outstanding alumni from the academy work opportunities within the greater Swire Properties community.
