EVENT DESCRIPTION

The annual SUMMERFEST will be held at the Central Harbourfront Event Space (CHES) from June 9 to July 23. Covering over 30,000 square meters in the core of Central, this large-scale 45-day outdoor programme provides about 25 special activities related to the theme of this year – “Fun in the Sun”. Hongkongers and tourists are welcome to enjoy a great summer in zero admission fee at the harbourfront.

Returning for the seventh year, SummerFest attracts tens of thousands of participants each summer. After three years of epidemic, its organiser Central Venue Management (CVM), the exclusive operator and manager of CHES, is confident that the event will attract more visitors to chill, play and breath fresh air in this outdoor environment.

“One Citybus” Exhibition is the highlight of this year’s SummerFest. Citybus and NWFB will be officially merged into the newly created Citybus (Franchise for the Urban and New Territories) effective from July 1, 2023. After nearly 30 years of evolution, the main franchise bus operators based in Hong Kong Island are finally consolidating into “One Citybus”. To commemorate this defining moment in the history of Hong Kong public transportation, Citybus and NWFB host this “One Citybus” Exhibition to show the evolution of Hong Kong Island franchise buses, showcasing retro buses, retired buses and our current fleet at the Central Harbourfront Event Space during 9 June to 23 July. A Daimler/ Leyland Fleetline which served CMB and NWFB over the years is displayed in the exhibition. There are also photo-taking spots for visitors to capture their precious memories.

Other anchor programmes and facilities include a “Sun & Sand” amid the CBD, a giant “Sunny Side Up”, a 12-metre “Great Blue Whale”, a golden “Sunflower Field” and more, while the energetic people would enjoy playing “Hoops Wall”, “Little Drivers’ Racing Track”, “Ping Pong Fun” and others.

A wide diversity of special events will be held on weekends, public holidays and other days. Alongside with the ‘One Citybus’ exhibition, the 3-day “One Citybus” Family Fun Day will be held during June 16-18. In addition to the showcase of retro buses and photo-taking spots, a Pop-up Store is set up to offer the latest merchandises which will be first released for public sale. Visitors can also participate at the bus-themed game booths to receive souvenirs exclusively at the event. On 18 June, to celebrate the Father’s Day, the first 200 fathers along with their children visiting the exhibition will receive a Citybus ice towel as a complimentary gift.

Other special activities designed for young generations include “HK Camping Festival 2023”, “Hong Kong Ukulele Festival”, 4-day “LOCOLOCO Market – Summer Creative Fair”, “Traditional West African Drums Workshop 2023”, and “Forest Breathing Market”, etc. Various dance shows and gatherings like “Fit and Fun Night Out – Dance Party”, “X-Dimension Summer Dance Party” and others would be highly exciting. An array of outdoor concerts “ShinyVibes” and “sf Winds E-pop Night” bring audience back to the good old days. In addition, a series of dynamic events such as “Hong Kong Balance Bike Carnival”, “Fit & Well – Moonlight Yoga”, “Hong Kong Baseball5 Team Exhibition Game – Celebrating the Olympic Day” and “Hong Kong Baseball5 & Baseball Six Competition” would satisfy different kinds of sports lovers.
