EVENT DESCRIPTION

This programme features four pieces of the Romantic era that were inspired by love. One of the most famous couples in musical history, Clara and Robert Schumann expressed their profound affections for one another as musical love letters through hidden music symbols in nearly every piece that they wrote. Born in the same year as Robert Schumann, Chopin was praised by Schumann as a genius. And Max Bruch (whose wife was also named Clara) began his early musical training with the teacher to whom Schumann’s piano concerto is dedicated.
