Li Ning: Inhale

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Yrellag Gallery is delighted to present Inhale, the unique solo presentation of Hong Kong local print artist Li Ning to be held at the Central gallery, taking place between 2 November – 5 December 2021. Comprising copper prints, this new body of work is reflective of Li’s deep interest in science fiction and subconscious dreams, a signature and ongoing source of inspiration within his art.

Li created a story full of rich mystery, and further developed an original and unique fictional character Boxman. The exhibited works allow the audience to personally travel through Boxman’s ridiculous yet exciting journey, and to encounter various strange monster-like passer-by along the way, taking us to a thrilling journey.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Li graduated from Bachelor of Fine Arts of Hong Kong Art School in 2019, majoring in painting. Li’s subject matter is inspired by dreams and daily sceneries, with multiple scenes and characters presented in the same composition. He constructs a bizarre world of unique characters being in a boundless territory without a definite start and end, with multiple actions and narratives happening at the infinite loop of time and space. LI’s work tells his personal stories and imagination through delicate lines and strong structure, inspired by his tattoo techniques and experiences as a tattoo artist. Participated exhibitions include group exhibitions “Art 021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair” (Shanghai, 2019), “HKFOREWORD19“ (10 Chancery Lane Gallery, 2019) and “Hot Off the Press” (HKOP, Hong Kong, 2019). LI currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
