EVENT DESCRIPTION

Organized by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association, and sponsored by Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Juxtaposed 2022 FASHION META will be held at the space at 59 Queen’s Road Central from June 10 to 23, 2022. As part of the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), this event will lead Hong Kong’s fashion scene to a new height.

Four Exhibition Zones
High-Impact Visuals Inspiring Fashion & Imagination
“Juxtaposed 2022 FASHION META” will lead visitors on a journey around 4 thematic exhibition zones, where 70 local fashion design units across different generations and styles will express their narratives on innovation and traditional craftsmanship.

Unique in aesthetics, these fine-crafted installations are inspired by the four major fashion cities around the world, including HK, Shanghai, Seoul and Paris. Every exhibit reinterprets the interesting contrasts between the cultural identities of these cities and the work itself. Besides physical exhibits, a curation of virtual images will be in store to guide visitors through a synchronised VR fashion experience – one that invites us to rethink how the newest technology may stimulate our creativity and shape the new identity of fashion in the 21st Century by combining state-of-the-art technology and traditional craftsmanship.

Pop-Up Shop & first Hong Kong designers’ NFT fashion collection
The fortnightly event also includes a pop-up shop showcasing the ready-to-wear collections by participating design units. Visitors can order online at the shop to experience how the exhibition and online shopping are seamlessly merged for a whole new experience that surpasses the boundary of the exhibition. Juxtaposed 2022 FASHION META also taps into the latest encryption technology and works with Artify and BOAX to launch first Hong Kong designers’ NFT fashion collection. Awe-inspiring work by 12 local fashion designers will march into the global virtual market, seamlessly bringing together reality and virtuality.

Hong Kong’s first full-service virtual fashion show
In collaboration with local innovative and high-tech production teams, the occasion adopts a state-of-the-art patented technology to host the city’s first 360-degree virtual fashion show at the exhibition venue. Surrounded by LED screens, the guests will immerse themselves between the actual exhibits and a virtual universe. The perfect fusion inspires a multi-faceted look at the creative essences of our designers and the real versus virtual possibilities of fashion.

Besides watching an unconventional fashion show within the exhibition, the audience can also participate in it. Powered by patented technology, visitors can have their virtual avatars generated in real-time to “try on” the wearable art pieces by various designers in the imaginative realm of “JuxtaVerse”. This experience does not only open the door into Hong Kong’s fashion industry; it also unlocks a mind-blowing voyage around a whole new spectrum – one that we call a fashion meta-universe.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

The Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA) was founded in 1984 by a group of successful and enthusiastic local fashion designers. As a non-profit making and self-financed organization, it aims to unite fashion designers, with both professionalism and expertise, to develop and better both their careers and the industry with and beyond the territory.

With supports from the industry and fellow designers in the past years, the Association has evolved to a key platform to share ideas and experiences through organizing fashion events such as catwalk shows, exhibitions, seminars, interviews and group discussions. Reputed not only as an official unit of Hong Kong fashion elites who provides excellent services with expertise, the HKFDA joins its force to promote the industry with other organizations and hence is recognized as one of the leading fashion institutions in Hong Kong, the Mainland and other cities in the Asia Pacific region.
