JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power (JCNAP)

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power (JCNAP) returns from September 2021 to January 2022. This year’s programme features six in-venue live performances and more than 100 educational and community events. Through the diverse range of programmes, JCNAP reaches out to people from different communities, showcasing the finest works and creativity of the local artists.

Seven arts groups participate in JCNAP this year, including Fung Lam, Terry Tsang, Yang Hao, Jumbo Kids Theatre, Théâtre de la Feuille, Toolbox Percussion and Wuji Ensemble.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is supporting JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power for the fifth consecutive year through its Charities Trust. As one of the world’s top ten charity donors, the Club is committed to building a culturally vibrant city, enriching the lives of Hong Kong people and promoting social inclusion through the arts.

JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power 2021/2022 In-venue performances include:

Boundless Groove: A Sonic Journey in Nature: Inspired from tradition and nature, this atmospheric concert combines Jazz and Chinese music, taking audience on a sonic journey through an innovative and undulating soundscape.

Yet Another Dream: Composer Fung Lam collaborates with cross-disciplinary visual artists anothermountainman for the first time, featuring an audio-visual feast to audiences’ eyes.

Dot/line/plane@SuperBaby: Produced by Jumbo Kids Theatre, Dot/line/plane@SuperBaby is a sensory performance incorporating drama, body movement, intriguing music and captivating projections for children aged 2 to 6.

Toolbox Manoeuvre: Led by artistic director Louis Siu, Toolbox Percussion teaming with choreographer Alice Ma and poet Nicholas Wong showcase an interdisciplinary performance which creates a dreamy and mystifying mindscape of contemporary life.

#1314: Produced by Théâtre de la Feuille, #1314 reinterprets William Shakespeare’s Sonnets through the tussle between virtuoso physical body movement and ingenious, brilliantly-crafted words.

Mo4Ngaan5Tai2-Juk6: Promising choreographer Terry Tsang tries to understand and further explore the notion of bodies and desires in this new work. He will assimilate sculpture exhibition with live physical performance, connecting the static with the active to create a unique experience for audiences.

In addition to in-venue performances, JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power works with the participating artists to offer a range of well-received school and community programmes. The programmes are comprehensive and tailor-made for students at all school levels and people from varied communities to experience the joy of arts. ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power, launched in 2017, is an annual arts festival presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council with the funding support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. It brings together established and emerging local artists to produce creative, approachable and engaging arts experiences for all.

Over the past three years, 43 arts groups have participated in JCNAP. Together they produced 90 live performances and a remarkable number of major exhibitions. Uniting art groups and various organisations from the social welfare, academic and commercial sectors, it held over 550 community and school events, reaching some 460,000 participants.
