EVENT DESCRIPTION

Classical pieces rearranged with a jazz spirit

Pianist Joyce Cheung and her 13-piece ensemble present a collection of familiar classical pieces fused with a jazz spirit. Ten years in the planning, the performance retraces Cheung’s musical roots, combining new interpretations of favourite works specially devised for a big ensemble or small groups – including Dvorak’s New World Symphony, Debussy’s Clair de Lune and Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu. The playful 70-minute show features musicians from a range of backgrounds, takes inspiration from jazz and fusion, and promises an accessible, easy-listening evening experience.

Approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, no intermission.
