Harborfront Shared Space (HSS) has always aimed to break the traditional public space management model to create a more accessible and diverse waterfront by engaging citizens, local cultural entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from different sectors of society.

For five consecutive weekends from 23 October to 27 November, the Collab@VictoriaHarbour art experience will be held at four Harbourfront venues, including Kennedy Town Belcher Bay Promenade, Wan Chai HarbourChill, Causeway Bay “Typhoon Shelter Themed Area”, and Tsuen Wan Promenade. The event will be a collaboration between Non-Governmental Organizations and local artists such as St. James’ Creation, Hong Kong PHAB Association, Arts with Disabled Association Hong Kong and Art at Home, etc., to conduct crossover art and culture performances across generations, races, and boundaries to bring a series of exciting activities to the Harbourfront.

Kennedy Town Belcher Bay Promenade – Our Starry Sky Exhibition + Ceramic Workshop @HSS
The “Our Starry Sky” exhibition at Kennedy Town Belcher Bay Promenade is organized by St. James’ Settlement. Over the past 20 years, St. James’ Settlement brings together people with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder (also known as C Fu Jais) in making ceramics. St. James’ Settlement Society’s Art Imagination, funded by the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. “Our Story +1+1” allowed these ceramics artists to connect and make friends with people from different backgrounds. Likewise, by bringing their artworks and ceramic activities to the community, it gives meaning to the “Our Starry Sky” project. Together with renowned artists from all over the world, including Katherine Mahoney from Australia, Mami Kato, and Tashima Seizo from Japan, they used over 3000 pieces of ceramic tiles to piece together a variety of installation artworks with the theme of “Our Starry Sky”.

St. James’ Settlement will also organize a free Ceramic Workshop in November, where C Fu Jais will instruct pottery techniques to make star ceramic pieces with simple tools. After enjoying the “Our Starry Sky” exhibition, parents can unleash their creativity with their children, enjoy the fun of making ceramic works, and experience the feeling of peace and harmony brought by pottery making.

Wan Chai HarbourChill – Busking Flash @HSS
Regardless of the era, music is the purest form of expression. HarbourChill in Wan Chai will host a campfire busking concert featuring musicians from different generations, including five members of Hong Kong’s renowned female choir “Chan Fai Young x Female Choir”, Puzzles Music, and the Hong Kong PHAB Association. Modern pop songs and sign language songs will bring together singers from the three generations to express love through music.

Causeway Bay – The Revitalized Typhoon Shelter Precinct – Harbourfront Knitting Challenge@HSS
There will be a knitting workshop at the Revitalized Typhoon Shelter Precinct from Causeway Bay to Fortress Hill instructed by a local artist Mandy Ma and a Non-profit art group organization – Art Together, calling on the public to work together to weave an extra-long art installations, where the completed installations will become part of the waterfront shared space decoration, echoing the theme of the Collab@VictoriaHarbour to connect people from different backgrounds and to share love and equality at the Harborfront shared space.

Tsuen Wan Promenade – Street Dance Battle @HSS
Dancers of diverse abilities background will break through existing stigmas and bring a variety of different dance styles and culture to the stage of the Tsuen Wan Promenade. Dancers from “Arts with Disabled Association” will perform wheelchair dance, and famous dancer Anisha Thai and dance teams from different countries will showcase a “Street Dance Battler”.
