Concert Cancellation: “BBC BLUE PLANET II LIVE IN CONCERT” on 21, 22 & 23 Jan 2022

In view of the latest situation of COVID-19, further measures have to be adopted to maintain social distancing. All performance venues under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, including the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, will remain closed until 3 Feb 2022.

The advertised performances of “BBC Blue Planet II Live in Concert” (21, 22 & 23 Jan 2022) held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall have been cancelled. Refund arrangements will be announced on our website in due course. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Blue Planet II Live In Concert will present a selection of stunning visuals from the television series, highlighting the incredible natural wonders of our blue planet in breath-taking detail, projected on a giant screen. Accompanied by the original immersive music score by Hans Zimmer, David Fleming and Jacob Shea, the concert will be performed live by the HK Phil.
A fantastical journey from icy polar seas to pulsating coral reefs, from the luminous deep sea to enormous kelp forests: immerse yourself with Blue Planet II Live In Concert, a simply breath-taking and epic show that you will never forget.

The concert runs approximately 1.5 hours with an intermission.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) is one of the leading orchestras in Asia. The annual schedule focuses on symphonic repertoire, with conductors and soloists from all over the world. The HK Phil runs an extensive education programme, commissions new works, and nurtures local talent. The most recent recording project is Wagner’s Ring Cycle following the first-ever performances in Hong Kong of these four operas. In 2019, the HK Phil received the prestigious Gramophone Orchestra of the Year Award – the first orchestra in Asia to receive this distinction. With Music Director Jaap van Zweden since 2012, the HK Phil has toured to Europe, Asia, Australia, and on numerous occasions to Mainland China. Yu Long is the orchestra’s Principal Guest Conductor, while Lio Kuokman is the Resident Conductor of the HK Phil.
