EVENT DESCRIPTION

To congratulate Suzy Lee for being the first Korean writer to win the International Hans Christian Andersen Award , Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong is going to hold the online reading event 책(Check) This Out! again! At 12pm every Monday, from 27th June to 18th July, storyteller Kenny from Little Green Feet will read and present Korean pictures books to you.

Suzy Lee – the first Korean writer to win Hans Christian Andersen Award
During this event, the storyteller will read aloud 4 picture books of Suzy Lee, a Korean female author — ‘This Beautiful Day’, ‘Ask me’, ‘Open the door’, and ‘The naked painters’. Suzy Lee is the winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award 2022, which is the highest international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children’s books.

Experienced storyteller presenting stories
We are honored to invite Kenny, an experienced storyteller in Hong Kong, to read the stories for us. Kenny, often called as ‘Uncle Giraffe’ among children, is the founder of ‘Little Green Feet’, a registered company which leads the picture book culture and promotes the practice of positive parent-child culture in Hong Kong.

Answer a simple question to get tickets of Book Fair
In addition to this reading event, we have also prepared gifts for audiences. After each episode is aired, we will ask you a simple question about the story. The 5 applicants who answer correctly, can get 2 tickets of Book Fair*. Book Fair will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 20 to 26, and we will also hold an exhibition in the “Cultural Village” to display books by Korean authors such as Suzy Lee. Besides, we are also honored to invite Korean author Kyung Hye-won, the theme of the last <책(Check) This Out!> event, to do sharing on July 23.
